            In the previous series of this post, 'Early Inventions of ancient Indians - Invention 1', I have mentioned about the early scientific inventions such as 'Refraction' and 'Scattering of light'. These scientific concepts were FIRST invented by ancient Indians and exceptionally demonstrated in a temple, around1000 years before. In this part 2 of this post, will reveal about the FIRST portable battery / cell founded by an ancient noble Siddhar of Akand Bharath, which was around 9000 years before....


Who founded the FIRST battery in the World ?

Answer: Siddhar Agathiyar / Sage Agastya. He founded the FIRST portable battery / cell in the world. He is one of the sapta rishis (7 sages) of India and the most revered sage in Hinduism. He is much knowledged sage of all, mastered in Ashta Siddhi, an expert in metallurgy and being worshiped in temples across Asia.

Siddhar Agathiyar was the FIRST one to invent portable battery / cell in the world. The works of ancient Indians were stolen from India and being patented in the names of westerners... All ancient libraries of Akand Bharat were burnt to destroy the priceless manuscripts and thoroughly demolished the rich libraries such that no one comes there to learn....

      Ancient Indians and Sages were more advanced in science and technology than the current generation scientists and experts. There were many advanced things in ancient India such as flying balloons, Vimana (flying car), inter galaxy flying machine, tele transportation, electricity, batteries, advanced internet, space ships, solar powered and invisible vehicles, IVF, test tube babies, cloning techniques and much more....

Westerners who saw the works of ancient Indians felt inferior and treated Indians rude and ill-mannered to satisfy their inferiority complex. Also, in order to make Indians to feel self-loathing about their history and ancestors, they tried to erase our history from our minds, had called our rich histories and advanced inventions as mythological stories and made fun out of it .... But, on another hand, they consistently looted our ancient manuscripts and heavily paid for the one who translates the ancient Indian texts. Then, they started to create their own history from the stolen things of India....

Nobody believed in Vimana, until Airplane was invented by a westerner!!
Nobody believed in Navagraha, until 9 planets were identified by western scientists !!
Nobody believed in Kauravas birth from ghee pots, until IVF (also test tube babies) was invented !!
Nobody believed in Sanjaya's boon to watch live Mahabharata war at king's palace, until Wireless live streaming was made possible !!


        We all have been made to learn that western scientists such as  Benjamin Franklin had invented batteries, Newton invented gravity, Edison invented bulbs etc. However, what's not taught to us is that the batteries and electricity were being used in ancient India, thousands of years before the invention of these western scientists....

        Most of the current generation people don't know about Siddhar Agathiyar / Sage Agastya. He was the MASTERMIND of many scientific inventions and he was the FATHER of electricity and portable batteries...

Process of making Battery from the texts of Agastya Samhita:

The ancient text of Agastya Samhita describes the method of making electric battery and that water can be split into oxygen and hydrogen. This Agastya samhita was made after thousand years of his invention, because these inventions and knowledge were transferred orally to the students who were excelled in that particular topic. Later, it was penned down in palm leaves and kept in libraries for the future generation people....


Modern battery cell resembles Agastya’s method of generating electricity.

For generating electricity, Sage Agastya had used the following material:

1.One earthen pot
2.Copper plate
3.Copper sulphate
4.Wet saw dust
5.Zinc amalgam

संस्थाप्य मृण्मये पात्रे ताम्रपत्रं सुसंस्कृतम्‌।
छादयेच्छिखिग्रीवेन चार्दाभि: काष्ठापांसुभि:॥

His text says : “Sansthapya Mrinmaya Patre
Tamrapatram Susanskritam
Chhadyechhikhigriven Chardrarbhih
Kashthpamsubhih.
Dastaloshto Nidhatavyah
Pardachhaditastah
Sanyogajjayte Tejo
Mitravarunsangyitam”

संस्था प्ये (Take ) मृन्मये (soil) पत्रे ( patra= container) "तम्रपात्र्न" ( cleaned copper plate) सुसांकरतम
च्छाड्येत ( covere with ) शिखी ( Morchud = Copper sulphate) ग्रिवेनड्रारभिही कस्थाप

        Which means, “Place a well-cleaned copper plate in an earthenware vessel. Cover it first by copper sulfate and then by moist sawdust. After that, put a mercury-amalgamated zinc sheet on top of the sawdust to avoid polarisation. The contact will produce an energy known by the twin name of Mitra-Varuna. Water will be split by this current into Pranavayu and Udanavayu. A chain of one hundred jars is said to give a very effective force. ”

        In above verse, Mitra is cathode , Varuna is anode , Pranavayu is oxygen, Udanavayu is hydrogen, Ghritachi is earthen ceramic beaker, Shata Kumbh is 100 cells in series to convert chemical energy to electrical energy, Apsara is water tight vessel..

        Maharishi Agastya says- If you use the power of hundred Kumbha's (hundred cells made in the above manner and added in series) on water, and then the water will change its form into Oxygen and Hydrogen. Here प्राणवायु means Oxygen, उदान वायु means Hydrogen.

When a cell was prepared according to Agastya Samhita and measured, it gives open circuit voltage as 1.138 volts, and short circuit current as 23 mA.

Once such ancient battery was recently found out by archaeologists in Baghdad. Baghdad was part of Akand Bhart and was ruled by ancient Indian kings.....


Process Of Electroplating by Maharshi Agastya in Agastya Sanhita:

Agastya Samhita also gives details of using electricity for Electroplating. He figured out the method of polishing copper or gold or silver by the battery. Due to such brilliant invention, Rishi Agastya is also called Kumbodbhav (Battery Born).

If we use the power of 100 earthen pots on water, then water will change its form into life-giving oxygen and floating hydrogen.



Making Hot Air Balloon:

        The process of making hot air balloon were explained by Siddhar Agathiyar in ancient texts, as 

Vayubandhakvastren Nibaddho
Yanmastake
Udanah Swalaghutve
Bibhartyakashayanakam.

If hydrogen is contained in an air tight cloth, it can be used in aerodynamics, i.e. it will fly in air. (Today’s Hydrogen Balloon). Siddhar Agathiyar was the FIRST one to invent hot air balloons, when the westerners were roaming like nomads in forests....



        Bulb inventor Thomas Edison wrote in one of his books that -“one night I slept while reading a Sanskrit sentence. That night I realized in my dream the meaning and mystery of that Sanskrit word that helped me to make bulbs”.

            Copper plate inscriptions have been excavated in Tamilnadu which record the names of early Pandya kings from the first Sangam period till Chola kings in the third sangam period. The copper plates refers that Sage Agastya being the Kula Guru of the early Pandya kings. 
        It is also mentioned in the copper plate that they accomplished like going around the earth, travelling to other dimensions such as the realms of the Devas etc. But, these inscriptions were dismissed as myth by historians, who studied these plates. Who were these historians??? East India company funded people ??

        All the achievements of ancient Indians are dismissed as myth!!! At the same time, all the works and knowledge from ancient India were stolen by westerners to take credit for the works stolen and were praised as scientists!!! Wow!!! Actually, credit should be given to them for stealing other's knowledge and for erasing the rich histories of the countries that they invaded... 

        Intelligent Indians not only wrote in palm leaf manuscripts, they purposefully inscribed all our history in copper plates and carved the history of our ancestors through indestructible strong granite stones in the temples....

        Sage Agastya’s accomplishment is one of the India’s oldest invention and he was the wisest Rishi. Indians are unaware of the information provided in our Puranas, while the Westerners are following our Puranas to carry out all the major inventions. We should read our Vedas, Puranas, Samhitas, Upanishads, to know about the knowledge of ancient Indian Rishis. Ancient India was the FOUNTAINHEAD of knowledge and early sages had done many new inventions much before than any other country.

        Inventions of ancient Indians were consistently suppressed, the knowledge and ideas were stolen and credits were given to a westerner. Every inventions that were invented during 1500 - 1900 CE was actually belongs to an Indian. Because, thats the period where India was enslaved and looted in all means by Mughals, Persians, Portuguese and East Indian company people. The knowledged gurus / teachers were forced to migrated or to die in the mother land, the vast schooling libraries with technical manuscripts were burnt to destroy our rich history, to steal our knowledge and created a FALSE history about India to make Indians inferior and self-loathing.... Even today, many Indians feel inferior about themselves when compared with other country people...

Who is Siddhar Agathiyar (Sage Agastya)?

Who is Siddhar Agathiyar (Sage Agastya)? Unknown facts about Sage Agastya....


    Siddhar Agathiyar / Agastya was one of the sapta rishis of Akand Bharat and the most revered sage in Hinduism. Several thousand years ago, he was the one who led people to spread across Akand Bharat and all over the world!!

What is the meaning of Siddhar?

In tamil, the one who attained spiritual powers or higher consciousness is called as Siddhar / Chithar. Siddhar / Cithar is a tamil word.

In tamil chit - means consciousness. The famous temple in 'Chidambaram' was named after this.

        Agathiyar was born before the start of Satya yuga - i.e the first yuga in yuga cycle. He witnessed the pralaya, when there was a transition of Manu, i.e from Cakusa manu to Vaivasta Manu (Tamil king Satyravrata from Kumari Kandam).


        During the time of pralaya, there was a huge flood and consecutive mega tsunamis occurred in the Indian ocean, which led to the destruction of the huge landmass Kumari kandam. With the help of Lord vishnu's Matsya avatar, King Satyavrata, sapta rishis and people migrated from Kumari kandam to northern landmass, i.e they reached ancient tamizhakam.

        Agathiyar belongs to Pre-Vedic civilisation period. Pre-Vedic civilisation is nothing but a buried tamil civilisation. Once upon a time, there were not so many languages, entire people of Akand bharat spoke Tamil / ancient Tamili. Over the period of time, Tamil was confined only to south india and to the entire south indian states. These states such as Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Tamil Nadu were together called as 'Tamizhakam' - meaning land of tamils / heart of tamils. Still one can find some places in North, East and Western parts of India that are named in tamil.... Tamil civilisation was the mother of all civilisations in the world!!

  Now, coming back to sage Agathiyar, he was the kula guru of Pandya king Satyavrata and helped to migrate people during the natural disaster. There are many temples in the world, where sage Agathiyar is being worshiped by people in different names and in different languages. 


1. He was a guru for many known famous siddhars, maharishis and royal kings. 

2. He received knowledge of Pranav mantra and arts of combat science techniques from Lord Murugan. 


3. He is the father of Tamil language. 

4. He was the MASTERMIND of many scientific inventions. But, all his inventions, achievements, fame and notable works are not acknowledged and not recognised in this modern world. Most of the modern generation people, don't know who is Agathiyar.... It is important to know about our history, our land and about our ancestors, to revive our identity. If one's identity is lost, he will be lost forever.....

        This blog post will mention the fabulous inventions, miracles and the works of the great sage Agathiyar. This blog post will give credit to the original creator Agathiyar and will rewrite the real history of science and inventions in India!!

Let us see about more important facts and inventions about Siddhar Agathiyar, with some references...

1. Kula Guru of King Dasaharatha - Treta Yuga - Second yuga

        Siddhar Agathiyar was elder brother of Sage Vashistha. Vashistha was also Kula guru for King Dasharatha (Father of Lord Rama). This is also proving that Agathiyar existed before the period of Ramayana.

2. Sage Agathiyar was the FIRST one to invent martial arts and science in the World!! 

        Adimurai - meaning 'Methods of Hitting', it is an ancient martial arts and science of tamizhakam, which is around 10,000 years old. It is the mother of all martial arts in the World. Adi murai is not only martial arts, it also deals with science of healing. A person who wants to learn martial arts, needs to practice the arts of healing and medicines first.

3. Agathiyar founded Silambam, the ancient method of attacking and defending using weapons.

        Sage Agastya has compiled texts about Adi murai and Silamabam on palm leaves. These martial arts are about 10,000 years old. It has traveled several places across this planet with different names such as Bokator (Cambodia), Angampora (Sri Lanka), Muay Thai (Thailand) etc.

3. He invented Varma kalai. 

        The first and basic text about these Varma Kalai and ADIMURAI was compiled in manuscripts by Agathiyar at Pothigai Mountain, the place where he lived.  There are 108 pressure points in our human body, in Tamil it is called as 108 Varmams. 

        Varma kalai combines massage, alternative medicine, traditional yoga and martial arts in which the body's pressure points are manipulated to heal or cause harm.

Varma Kalai and Marma Kalai are not the same. Varma Kalai is based on Siddhar tradition and Marma Kalai based on Ayurvedic traditions

4. Agathiyar invented pulse reading technique, naadi parthal in tamil.

        Pulse reading is, detection of the abnormalities in mukuttram, by feeling the pulse of the patient by the methods prescribed in the siddha texts. A siddha physician feels the patterns of vibration that represent the metabolic processes going on in the body at a specific time.

5. He is the one who bought river Kaveri to Earth.

        He once drank up the entire ocean and made it dry, to help Devas / Gods... He contained river Kaveri in his kamandalam (copper pot). Due to the play of Lord Ganesha, river Kaveri got released from his pot and flowed in Earth....

6. He is the FIRST one to invent battery / cell in ancient India.  [Separate post will be published to cover this topic]


7. Agathiyar, the First Tamil Siddhar and Maharishi used Mercury which is widely used in Siddha medicine. 

        He is an expert in metallurgy. Siddhar Bhogar who had created Navapaahanam, was a student of Agathiyar. 


        Parad Lingam is considered as rarest and important shiva lingam. Once Lord Shiva said to his consort Parvati that the one who worships lingam made out of mercury will face no diseases or death. It is also called as 'Rasa lingam', as lingam is made using solidification of mercury, in Tamil Mercury is called as 'Padha Rasam'. 

            During purification process, the poisonous mercury will be converted into healing nectar, followed by adding gemstones and so on, at the end of the process mercury takes the shape of lingam. Maharshi Agastiyar was the first one to solidify mercury through the use of indian herbs. 

8. Maharshi Agastiyar converted a silver into Gold, by his single touch.

         He was mastered in Ashta siddhis. He got miracle powers such that, he can turn a silver object into Gold, by his touch and mantra.. The Siddhars had also consumed purified mercury, Iridium, Rhodium and gold in order to achieve physical immortality.

9. Agathiyar led the Kumari kandam survivors to found civilisations in various parts of the world. 

        Agasthiyar led a migration of Dravidians to Java and Cambodia and Central and South America. The ancient civilisations of Incas, Mayans and Aztecs of South America were founded by Viracocha. Viracocha is a great creator deity in Pre - Inca mythology, he is often depicted as tall old beared man in white robes. 

            Virococha from Lemuria is considered as founder of Inca civilisation. There is a traditional view among Incas that the Lemurians( the name western researchers used for Kumari kandam people), under the guidance of their siddhars, colonised North and South America. Lemurians had also colonised Nile Valley, when they founded the Egyptian civilisation.....

        So, under the guidance of Agathiyar, people migrated to the western hemisphere and founded Inca, Mayan and Aztec civilisations.


        Statues of Agastyar have been found all over South East Asia and even the Maori of New Zealand worship an Agastyar figure.

10. Sage Agastya had lived in Agasthiyar Malai in western ghats, which is much older and Sacred than the later formed Himalayas mountain. 

        Many people claim that ancient mountain name Malaya is the none other than Himalayas. A Big No to that false claim!! During a drastic flood, practically people from the low lying areas will try to reach a nearer higher altitude places for safety. Likewise, people from the Southern land (Kumari Kandam) tried to reach out to the nearby elevated mountain, i.e Pothigai Hills which is only 50 kilometers away from Kanya kumari. Thus, the sacred mount Malaya can't be related to the Himalayas, as it is very far from Kumari Kandam. 

            Pothigai Hills / Agaithiyar Malai was referred as Malaya mountain during the early pandya kingdom and it is considered as the one of holiest mount in India. As Maharishi Agastya spent most of his lifetime at this Malaya mountain, it was also called as 'Agasthiar Malai' situated in the Western Ghats of India. Agasthiar Malai / Pothigai Malai is the only place in the World, where there are many distinctive types of flora, fauna and animal species are found that can't be found anywhere else in the World. Very rare types of poisonous Spiders, leeches and snakes can also be found here. (These rare species and seeds were bought from Kumari Kandam through the Giant Boat)

11. The oldest literature in Tamil was 'Agathiyam', written by the Sage Agathiyar. 

        He is considered as the most knowledged and powerful Sage in India, but reference to his epic Agathiyam was missing as Kumari kandam continent was submerged.

         'Agathiyam' was the first book in Tamil written by the great Sage Agathiyar (Agastya) during the First Sangam period. Siddhars lived during the period of first tamizh sangam i.e around 10,000 BCE. 

12. Agathiyar founded Sidereal solar calendar

        The ancient most tamizh siddhar was Agathiyar / Agastya who had lived through all the three yugas i.e from Satya yuga to Dwapara yuga. He founded sidereal solar calendar, i.e zodiac and sun based calendar system. He had also calculated the position of other planets and its cycle.

         The knowledge about astronomy, astrology are travelling across generations of tamizh people, so calculating sun's position with respect to the zodiac is not new to the tamizh people. Tamil calendar follows Sidereal solar system....

Ancient Siddhars of tamizhakam had a great knowledge of converting inorganic substances into a nano and ionic form which is easily absorbed by the human cells. Mercury, is widely used in Siddha medicines. Mercury, a killer poison, is converted into healing nectar, when properly purified and processed. 

        Navapashanam - An elixir made up of amalgam of 9 poisonous minerals. Navapashanam was not made only by the sheer human brilliance, a true wisdom of knowledge was gained from the universe (God), which helped siddhars to make Navabhashanam. Siddhar means - one who attained spiritual perfection / consciousness and the power to control the physical realm.

Navapashanam contains “high positive energy”. It also acts as a catalyst to awaken ones self.

Siddhars were the most knowledgeable Yogi's / Sages who have magical, supernatural and spiritual powers. They served as Doctors, Saints, Alchemists, Physicians, Founded Varma Kalai (Self defense), 'Naadi Parthal' (Pulse reading) etc. In Tamil, 'Chitham' means 'Attaining the level of utmost consciousness', also 'Siddhi' means 'Powers', that is why there is term called 'Ashta Siddhi' (8 great magical powers attained through spirituality)

        Agathiyar is considered as a Supreme Siddhar and much revered sage in India. Every ancient traditions, food science, medicines, remedies, martial arts, science, technology, arts, architecture, language, astronomy, astrology, yoga were originated from the great Siddhars of Tamizhakam!!!

        Neem is a wonderful medicinal plant of India, which is being used for several thousand years in Siddha and Ayurveda treatments without causing any side effects.

        The usage of neem in Indian traditional medicines and in Indian culture, traditions can be dated as early as 9000 BCE. 

        Most of the Indian homes have neem tree in their garden, it can also be seen to have abundantly grown in streets and in many places in India. Every parts of neem plant is beneficial and is used for different purposes, such as medicine for humans, for agriculture, dental care etc. That's why it plays vital role in Indian traditions and rituals, Tamil new year celebration is incomplete without these neem leaves and neem flowers.         This neem tree has dense leaves. During, spring small white flowers will blossom and during monsoon, small green colour fruits will appear then it changes to yellow colour.  Inside the fruit, there will be only one seed, from which neem oil is extracted. Neem oil is widely used in India, as mosquito repellent, as pesticide in agriculture etc....

Herbal steam:

        Steam with either one of the leaves such as, Neem leaves, Tulsi leaves (Holy basil), Karporavalli leaves (Mexican Mint / Cuban Oregano in English) will send anti virals into your body, more specifically anti viral will be sent to your lungs. Anti virals job is to kill / weaken the virus.

        As anti virals are directly sent to the lungs, it stops the coronavirus from attacking the lungs. Breathlessness is caused due to the major attack of coronavirus in the lungs, so if the attack in lungs is stopped / controlled, then the natural immunity of human body will automatically kills this virus, serious health issues will be avoided and thereby it helps our body to recover faster...



        Herbal Steam is the equivalent to sanitising your lungs from the virus. We have to sanitise / clean our self from both internally and externally to prevent from this virus attack.

        In the beginning of monsoon month i.e Aadi masam (July / August), every south indian women will tie fresh neem leaves at their main door. The reason is, during this monsoon season, there are chances of viruses, germs to spread. Thus, to prevent themselves from the transmission of any air borne diseases, fungus, germs and viruses, neem leaves will be tied at the main of the every household. 

        In my childhood days, when I get severe cold and nasal congestion, my mom asks me to do one miracle remedy using turmeric roots. All my cold and congestion will go off like a magic after this doing remedy. That magic remedy is, Inhaling turmeric smoke!!

Turmeric smoke inhalation:

        Take a turmeric root and keep the tip or a small part of the root in the flame of diya (it is mandatory to use sesame seeds oil or castor oil in diya for this purpose). It takes for sometime for the tip of the turmeric root to catch fire. Once it catches fire, then take it out from the flame, tip will be burnt and black in colour. The burnt turmeric root releases a herbal medicinal smoke and this smoke is very good to treat cold, flu and congestion. 


        Inhale this smoke until it subsidies, again keep the root in diya flame to burn more and then inhale the smoke. Repeat this process, depending upon your capacity or max 10 minutes, not more than that for a single sitting. This turmeric smoke inhalation works like charm and within some time you will be relieved from all your cold, flu and congestion will be gone. 

[ Note: This method will cause slight irritation in the nose. So, after this treatment, apply some moisturiser like ghee / coconut oil on your nose.]

        Thus, all the natural traditional remedies using Indian herbs and plants are TRULY MEDICINAL in nature. A true medicine is the one which cures the diseases, without causing any side effects or without affecting the natural functionality of the body. In this way, Neem and turmeric are the BEST medicines for coronavirus.

        Koozh / Kuzh is the most ancient and healthiest food in the world. It is the super food of ancient Indians and it is considered as a staple and healthy breakfast.

        Koozh is a probiotic food, prepared using millets through fermentation process. Curd and Koozh were the FIRST probiotic food founded by ancient Indians, around 9000 years before...

       
         Hence, Koozh is the most ancient food in the world. It was prepared using millets such as Ragi / Finger millet or Kambu / Pearl millet / Bajra. Rice was cultivated in the last 5000 years, but before that millets were widely used by Indians. Koozh is considered as an easy, healthy, energetic and filling breakfast. It is in the form of kanji (porridge), so it's easy to consume. 

            Koozh is a part of daily diet of rural and agricultural people. As, it is prepared using millets, it is loaded with proteins, vitamins, minerals (rich in calcium),  dietary fibers and good bacterias, which is good for the gut health. High number of good bacterias are formed during fermentation process of this food and hence it's having a probiotic potential. These good bacterias are responsible to improve the gut health of the body.

        It can also be consumed by babies and children. Even today, in south india, babies will be given Ragi porridge, to gain weight and to improve bone strength. It is a powerhouse of calcium.


Traditional koozh preparation involves fermentation process. Curd is also prepared using fermentation process. Though, it is a simple procedure, koozh has numerous healthy benefits. Fermentation is an excellent innovation in food science. Let us see about the hidden health benefits of fermentation method....

 Fermentation - was FIRST founded by ancient Indians in India. Curd and koozh were the oldest food in the world, which is prepared using fermentation process. During this process, natural good bacterias are formed, which is called as 'Probiotics'. Also, while fermenting millets, the levels of Thiamine, riboflavin and niacin contents will be increased rapidly. 

        
        Fermented foods contains probiotics contents such as lactobacillus bacterias. These bacterias are called as good bacterias, which are improves gut health in the human body. 

        Gut health plays a major role in our immune system. It comprises more than 75% of our immune system. There are about trillions of microorganisms in the gut that promotes normal gastrointestinal function, protects body from the infection and regulates the metabolism.

        Probiotics gives your immune system a boost, it promotes the production of natural antibodies in the body, it helps to maintain good gut health. If you gut is healthy, then your immune system will self heal your body automatically...

        These traditional Indian foods such as Koozh, took care of the gut health in the body. If your gut is healed, then rest of your body will be healed automatically by the body's immune system. Gut health plays major role in the immune system to work effectively. 

            Now, coming back to koozh, this popular fermented food is highly nutritious and a perfect immunity boosting food. As this food is like malt, it improves the digestion in the body, by converting complex carbohydrates and proteins into simple sugars and amnio acids. The fermented Ragi koozh is rich in amino acids such as valine, threonine, leucine and phenylalanine.

In South India, especially in Tamil Nadu, for many festivals and occasions Ragi koozh is being offered as prasadham to God. In the month of Chithirai (first month of tamil calendar i.e April / May) and in the month of Aadi (July / August), ragi koozh or kambu koozh will be prepared in huge vessels in temples and offered to Amman goddess who is called in different names such as Mariamman / Karu mari / Yellamma etc. 


        In the above picture, koozh is prepared for pooja in a brass vessel, who's neck is tied with a garland of neem leaves. 

Kambu koozh / Pearl millet / Bajra:

       This kambu koozh is rich in fiber, high in iron, calcium and vitamin B, B12, essential nutrients, proteins. It gives a sour tang flavor due to fermentation. It can be consumed by adding water, buttermilk, onion, curry leaves, and coriander leaves served with side dishes like green chilies, pickles, spiced mango or dry fish gravy. The microbes present in the koozh is probiotic in nature and contains micro-organisms provide health benefits when consumed


        Millets are widely used by ancient Indians and so it was largely cultivated than rice. Millets were given much importance in the Indian foods.

There is also a song for Lord Murugan that starts with, 'Thaenum Thinai Maavum' - meaning - I offer honey with Thinai flour ie. Foxtail millet. This shows how the millets were valued and given importance by our ancient Indians. 

        The meal made of Thinai / foxtail millet was the staple food of ancient Tamils is called as 'kali' and a drink made out of kali is called as 'koozh'. These foods Kali and Koozh is also mentioned in tamil sangam literatures. Kaikuthal Arisi and the millets are also highly nutritious.

        Consuming millet is more healthier than rice, as millet releases a lower percentage of glucose.

Millets have a greater amount of minerals like iron, magnesium, phosphorous, tryphtohan, phosphorus, fibre, B vitamins, anti-oxidants and potassium than rice.

  • Foxtail Millet (Thinai)
  • Kodo Millet (Varagu)

  • Proso Millet (Panivaragu) 
  • Sorghum (Cholam) 

Phytochemicals:

        Koozh prepared using millets are rich in phytochemicals. phytochemicals are naturally occurring compound, which plays important role in the human body. The phytochemicals may stimulate the immune system, slow the growth rate of cancer cells, prevent DNA damage that can lead to cancer, reduce inflammation and helps to regulate hormones. These phytochemicals act as antioxidants, neutralising free radicals and removing their power to create damage. 

        That's why Koozh is called as 'Super food of Indians'. Ancient Indians regularly consumed this food, they were fit and lived healthy lifestyle for around 100 years without any diseases such as diabetes, cholesterol, obesity, blood pressure etc. 

        My great grand mother, who took only traditional Indian foods had lived up to 97 years without having any of these new diseases. She was fit and healthy. Also, she never took any medicines, even though she gets cold or fever. She knows most of the home remedies, so she follows only those remedies such as Kashayam / kada / herbal drink, pepper rasam, dry ginger paste on forehead to reduce fever etc. She regularly consumed millet based food and she made sure to eat fermented food like Koozh, Idli, Dosa for daily breakfast.

This koozh is also called as 'Kanji', sometimes it's together called as 'Koozh Kanji'.

        This food is famous across Asia and consumed daily. In some Asian countries such as China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Srilanka and Vietnam, it is called as 'Congee', which is prepared using rice, vegetables or meats through fermentation process.


        It is also eaten as 'Canja', in Portugal. In Polynesian diet, it is called as 'Poi' and it's considered as staple food for people in Hawaii, cook islands, Easter islands, Marques Island etc. In Polynesia, it was prepared using taro roots and it is their most ancient food...

            Traditional Indian foods has plenty of nutritional values for a good health. It's not too late than never, so do change the food style, eat traditional indian foods, include more millets in the diet and spread this knowledge with the next generation kids for a healthy living!

        Koozh is not just a food, it's a food science, which is been under estimated for decades. After globalisation, Indians who are not aware of the knowledge of fermentation, considered traditional Indian foods as cheap and unattractive. Now everywhere in commercial markets, big companies are selling probiotics and fermented foods in an attractive packaged box with a high price. Westerners realised the values of our food...

         It's now high time to return to our roots, choose homemade healthy foods and naturally fermented dishes for a good health of our family!!
